Who is a volunteer, and what is the meaning of volunteering?

Volunteering means freely dedicating your time and effort for the benefit of society, without expecting material rewards. Some say volunteers give their hearts for the good of all of us.

Areas of volunteering are diverse: social assistance, education and training, youth, culture, intercultural and international cooperation, sports, tourism, health, sustainable development, environment, recreation, intergenerational help, protection, and rescue.

Why become a volunteer in the cultural sector?

In 2025, Nova Gorica and Gorizia will be the European Capitals of Culture. This will be the most important cultural event of the year. An exciting program will transform the two cities into a unique cross-border region. We cannot accomplish this without help. That’s why we need Borderless Heroes.

Volunteers are ambassadors of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia project. With their help, we can ensure the event's success. Volunteers will perform various tasks: assisting during events, organizing, managing information points, logistics, or communication. Being one of the Borderless Heroes is a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia project and experience an extraordinary adventure.

How to become a volunteer in the Borderless Heroes program?
